Biography

Daniel Monzon helps founders move from idea to execution, and from early traction to scalable growth. As CEO of Catapult Startups, he leads an accelerator that supports businesses to launch, scale, expand into new and international markets, raise capital, and plan for an exit through practical, structured programs and hands-on support.

At Catapult, Daniel co-built an accelerator from concept to day-to-day operation with a clear focus: Helping entrepreneurs build startups and high-growth Small and Medium size businesses. Under his leadership, Catapult developed end-to-end founder pathways that address the real bottlenecks companies face as they grow; advisory and mentorship, intellectual property and legal support, finance and accounting, marketing and sales, technology and product, operations, and people and talent. This structured, full-stack approach is designed to reduce risk, accelerate decision-making, and help founders move from idea to revenue and from early traction to scalable growth.

To date, Catapult’s work has supported more than 1,200 entrepreneurs and helped launch and scale multiple businesses. Daniel has guided companies through critical inflection points, including supporting a company in preparing for and securing $2.5M in investment, and helping founders access more than $100K in intellectual property-related funding. His approach is grounded in business fundamentals; clear positioning, strong unit economics, disciplined execution, and investor-ready operations. While remaining founder-friendly and action-oriented.

A recognized ecosystem builder and connector, Daniel has helped elevate Calgary and Southern Alberta’s innovation profile through Catapult-organized events, board roles, and speaking engagements. He has brought key stakeholders together through initiatives and forums such as Edmonton Startup Week, Innovation Week YYC, InnoFusion in Lethbridge, and the Apex Forums; creating platforms where founders, investors, and institutions can collaborate with purpose. Under his leadership, Catapult became a member of the CIC (Calgary Innovation Coalition) and RINSA (Regional Innovation Network of Southern Alberta), reinforcing Catapult’s role as a trusted contributor within Alberta’s broader innovation ecosystem.

Daniel is a Top 40 Under 40 leader who is respected for combining big-picture strategy with operational discipline.
